Filmmaker Garrett Scott was supposed to speak following the screening of his film "Occupation:Dreamland" this coming Friday, March 10. However, Garrett died from a heart arrhythmia last week (two days before his film won the prize for the "Truth is Stranger than Fiction" category at the Independent Spirit awards). Magic lantern Films will be celebrating Garrett's life and work when we screen his award winning film this Friday at 7:00 and 9:30.

Garrett Scott’s debut film Cul de Sac: A Suburban War Story (2002) is about an ex-marine named Shawn Nelson who drove a stolen tank through the streets of Clairemont, CA, tearing through parked cars as if they were sheets of paper. Scott will be in residence at UCSB from March 7-10, 2006.

SCREENING: Occupation: Dreamland
Friday, March 10 / 7:00 and 9:30 PM / IV Theater / $4

UCSB alumnus Garrett Scott has attracted critical acclaim with his recently released film Occupation: Dreamland (www.occupationdreamland.com), a film documenting a unit of U.S. Marines deployed during the occupation of Fallujah in the winter of 2004.
