This panel will examine the greening of Hollywood, from creating environmentally sustainable media production practices to building green consciousness in the media industries and their audiences.

Representatives from the film industry and environmental experts will discuss issues related to:

• Building green consciousness in media producers and their audiences
• Success stories of environmentally sustainable productions
• Challenges to sustainability in the film and television industries
• Recommendations for best practices that can be used by experienced and budding filmmakers

Ed Begley, Jr., Actor, Environmental Activist and Star of HGTV’s “Living with Ed”

Matthew Cooper, Entertainment and Environmental Attorney and Production Legal Consultant to the Lord of the Rings trilogy

Mark Shelley, Founder and Executive Director, Sea Studios Foundation and Senior Series Producer, National Geographic Television and Film

Mike Slavich, Manager, Environmental Initiatives, Warner Bros.

Brenda Smyth, State of California Integrated Waste Management Board, Technical Specialist, Sustainability in the Motion Picture Industry

Moderated by Constance Penley, Professor of Film and Media Studies, Co-Director, Carsey-Wolf Center for Film, Television, and New Media

There is regular admission to the panel for holders of Film Festival Platinum and Cinema passes and 4 and 12 Mini-Paks.

Single event tickets for the panel are $12. They can be purchased in advance at the Lobero Theater Box Office, the Arlington Theater Box Office, or at the door on the night of the event.
