The media landscape in the U.S. and abroad
is rapidly being reconfigured by technological developments,
new regulatory policies, political and ideological conflicts,
cultural trends, economic forces and globalization.
The conference addresses widespread concern about media
concentration and the effects of conglomeration on creativity,
competition and democratic access to the marketplace
of ideas. Please join media scholars and government
experts for a one-day, free conference on May 21, 2005,
9-5:30, at the Victoria Hall Theater in downtown Santa
Barbara, for presentations and discussions on
